Abstract

The word "anatomy" originates from the Greek words "ana" meaning "up" and "tome" meaning "cutting". The dissection or cutting is a misnomer to the meaning of the science. Anatomy means the science dealing with the structure of the human body not its cutting. Dissection is not an aim but a mean of anatomy study. In the past, studies of anatomy have mainly depended on dissection, but nowadays, with imaging technology, it is easily to see the structure of the body without such dissection.
